Marc Norris - Montessori Alzheimer Center

Marc Norris , Masters in Andragogy, is a specialized educator, certified ADHD coach and practitioner with the Montessori Method adapted for people with memory disorders.

Teacher for 15 years at the CÉGEP du Vieux-Montréal in special education as well as coordinator of first-year internships.

Following his retirement from teaching, he rediscovered his talents in the field of social gerontology and then pursued intensive training in the Montessori method with Cameron Camp and Jérôme Erkes of AG-D.

In collaboration with a community organization in Portneuf and the Quebec provincial government's Comité Appui Program, he established Projet Respire (a day center for adults with dementia). It was aimed at seniors with mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease, as well as caregivers.

The objectives and activities pursued represented the principles of the Montessori Method.

He also organized and hosted several Memory Cafés to allow those affected to speak and express themselves on issues of emotional adjustment and their daily concerns following the diagnosis.

Currently, he offers conferences, introductory days to the method as well as intensive training.

Josée Fortin, Montessori Alzheimer Center

Born in Quebec, Josée Fortin holds a DEC in Arts and Letters (Major in Theater), as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree including cultural animation. She completed her university studies with a certificate in psychosocial intervention.

She worked with the clients of Doctor Julien and his Children's Home in the Hochelaga district, through the Passe-Partout organization.

She later left Montreal to settle in the Yukon and begin her Montessori training. She has worked at the Yukon Montessori School for over 15 years as an educator and cultural intermediary.

Her interest in the Montessori method applied to the elderly developed over the years, as she became a close caregiver to her in-laws.

Furthermore, being a multidisciplinary artist, she uses the Montessori method as an intervention tool related to the arts.

She holds several AIM (International Montessori Association) certifications and continues to deepen this philosophy with various clients, by leading cultural workshops.

Trained by the Alzheimer Montessori Center in 2020, she now leads Montessori activity workshops adapted for seniors who are losing their autonomy.
